Who's who

There are three groups within the village, the Upton Scudamore Community Association (USCA), St Mary's Parochial Church Council (PCC), and the Upton Scudamore Parish Council (USPC).

The Upton Scudamore Community Association

USCA is a charitable body, formed in 2003 with the original aim of raising funds for the village. With no political or religious affiliations, they aim to work cooperatively with both the USPC and the PCC. Details of their members, accounts, and AGMs can all be found in their folder here.

Contact USCA via email at sueandbriane@talktalk.net

St Mary's Parochial Church Council

The Church of St Mary the Virgin can be traced back to the 11th century; the PCC ensure the pastoral care of the congregation, and also the daily upkeep of the church. Details of their members, accounts, and AGMs can all be found in their folder here.

Contact the PCC via email at alan.beswick@hotmail.co.uk

The Upton Scudamore Parish Council

The Parish Council is a typical local authority in that it is an elected body that represents the people of the community and makes formal decisions on behalf of that community. It is the level of government closest to the residents of the local area and is generally the first port of call for any of their ideas, wishes or concerns regarding the parish. Details of their members, constitution, accounts, AGMs and meetings can all be found in their folder here.

What's on

The calendar is the best place to find details of upcoming events. All event details, location, time, flyers will normally be added there. In addition, a number of occasional notes come through that can't really fit onto the calendar, and they end up in the Drive. You can access those files here

The village calendar can be integrated to your Android or Apple device so that you don't have to keep checking the website.

Photographs from the village

To make the sharing and contributing of photographs by villagers, and of the village, we use the popular Flickr on-line system. The village gallery can be found here, and it's also possible to find other people's images by the use of the #uptonscudamore hashtag. The results can be seen here

Staying in touch

As you might expect in such a small village, information is normally shared by word of mouth. But there is a village notice board on the village green where the community are able to post information. The village organisations often post mail flyers covering forthcoming events but there is an email list and calendar that are also useful for quickly sharing news and notices.

Rather than being run by any of the organisations within the village these services are set up by individuals, and modern methods such as Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, and other social media sites are used widely. The village email group can be seen and joined here.

If you have a particular interest in using a new system then please email the administrator to have it included here. All of the systems in use are listed below.
